Switzerland, meet Sun

Beauty

 Can you spot the birdie?

ETH Campus

Yesterday, the fog decided to kindly clear off, and Daphne and I went out to soak up the sun. We strolled (I walked, she reclined) to the park by the ETH Campus here in Zurich. On a spring day, there would be a flowing stream of water under that bird, but everything is currently frozen and covered in snow. It was still beautiful, and our spirits were lifted for the rest of the day. Because it was so nice after I left Daphne at 5 o'clock, I thought I would go hunting for the Taboa shop, apparently THE PLACE for gluten free products. I took the 32 streetcar to the 11 tram, connected to the 4 tram, started hearing stop names like "Bellvue," and knew I was going from posh to posher. And I was right. So much money in so small a place...nothing can prepare you. The shop was fabulously expensive. I would call it a boutique rather than a grocery store, with more hair and skin care products than food. I chatted with the shop lady and bought a few things, vegan pesto being one of them. As I left, I realized that sunny days in snowy places lead to icy evenings, and I had to carefully make my way back to the 4 tram. Well, remember how I bragged about the rail system? That was before the ice. When I got off the #4 to catch the #11, I heard a loud speaker saying words that sounded like German for "eleven," "involved," "collision," and I saw the faces around me scowling. Oh dear. Fortunately, I was near enough to the main station to wait indoors, and it really wasn't too long until things started moving again.
